According to the PAMA (Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association), the sales of Suzuki Alto between June 2019 and December 2021 stands at 102,682 units, not to mention the 9,195 units in December were the highest-ever figures for any individual model sold in a month in country’s automotive history. In total, the company managed to sell 53,887 units of Alto in 2021, the highest-ever numbers achieved by any Pak Suzuki car assembled in Pakistan in a calendar year.
The average monthly sales of Alto since launch is well above 3,300 units which is quite impressive and once again signifies the need of more small cars to be there in the segment, which unfortunately has remained untouched by key players leaving the play field open for Pak Suzuki. Here, one may bring in debate the likes of United Bravo and Prince Pearl but with minuscule production capacity and limited nationwide network, they pose no threat whatsoever to the hot selling Suzuki.
Despite rather compromising looks and a rather higher price tag for a 660cc car, the Alto is primarily preferred for its fuel efficiency and the fact that its the least expensive locally assembled mass produced car. And with established players like Honda and Toyota as well as newcomers unwilling to tap the small car segment despite having some very capable small cars in their portfolio, the path seems open for Pak Suzuki Alto to sail
