3rd Gen Isuzu D-MAX Launched in South Africa
The new 3rd generation Isuzu D-Max has been launched as a local assembled product in South Africa, one of the few key Right Hand Drive markets in the world. The latest generation of Isuzu D-Max had made its world debut back in October 2019.
Developed under the Efficient and Robust concept, the 3rd gen Isuzu D-Max boasts enhanced fuel consumption and improved safety, whilst still being versatile enough to suit different needs and conditions. The new D-Max rides on a new Isuzu Dynamic Drive Platform, and while it still utilizes body-on-frame construction, the ladder frame itself has seen a great number of improvements helping Isuzu to lengthen the bed on all cab variants. The suspension has also been comprehensively revamped. The front double wishbones get higher upper link mounts to improve stability, while the rear leaf springs have been manufactured using a process called warm stress shot peening to make it more durable, yet with better flexibility for a more comfortable ride. A wider rear track and a reduced mounting angle for the dampers also aid stability.
The new 2022 Isuzu D-Max will compete against the likes of Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger in South Africa which undeniably is known to have a craze for double-cabin pickup trucks. Price starts from R401,700 (PKR 51.57 lac) for the base 1.9L single cabin variant to up to R814,700 (PKR 104.6 lac) for the flagship 3.0L double cabin V-Cross 4×4 AT variant.
