Chery Omoda 5 Production Officially Begins

The first unit of Chery’s latest Omoda 5 crossover has rolled off the assembly lines at Chery’s manufacturing headquarters in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China. Omoda 5 is the first product to be built under the Chery 4.0 era and is the very first model in Chery’s new global product series called Omoda.

The Omoda 5 is an important model for Chery as it is the company’s first global model developed on international demands, and a key product for entry into the European Union and right-hand drive markets. According to Chairman Yin Tongyue, the Omoda 5 will set new standards for Chery in terms of customer satisfaction, competitiveness, digital mindsets, manufacturing and quality, while further innovating business models and yielding good results both domestically and globally. 

Gao Xinhua, the executive deputy general manager of Chery, said that the Omoda 5 has been in development for 18 months to be a truly global product. Since its global debut at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show, it has received good feedback both in China and abroad. A product of extensive self-conducted research and development, Omoda 5 satisfies global standards through the realization of a unified global platform and reflects the company’s new ideas. 

The Omoda 5 features Chery’s newly developed “Art in Motion” design language and boasts a comprehensively equipped interior utilizing two integrated and curved 10.25-inch high-definition digital screens that offer easy and intuitive control of all the car’s important driving, climate and entertainment settings. Chery also confirms that the Omoda 5 cabin will offer a comprehensive list of the most modern technologies and creature comforts.
