July Car Sales: Honda Lost, Suzuki & Toyota Won

The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has posted the monthly car sales report for July 2021. Overall, the car industry had outstanding sales last month. Company-wise breakdown shows massive growth for Pak Suzuki and Toyota Indus, whereas a decline in Honda Atlas sales. Well, we already knew about the record-breaking sales of Suzuki and Toyota, but Honda’s loss came as a surprise.

All PAMA registered car companies (Pak Suzuki, Toyota Indus, Honda Atlas, and Hyundai Nishat) collectively achieved 2,918 car sales in Jul 2021. Compared to the figure for June 2021, there’s a month-on-month increase of 81% and year-on-year growth of 114%.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown
Pak Suzuki Motors hit an all-time high sales number of 15,181 in July 2021. (MoM growth: 159%, YoY growth: 204%)

Toyota Indus Motors also made a record of highest ever sales with 6,715 units sold in July 2021. (MoM growth: 48%, YoY growth: 66%)

Honda Atlas saw a downfall in car sales, with only 2,304 units sold in July 2021. (MoM decline: 30%, You decline: 6%)

Hyundai Nishat welcomed a new car in its lineup, Hyundai Sonata, and scored 627 sales in July 2021. (MoM growth: 4%)

All other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown
Suzuki Alto remained the best seller for Pak Suzuki, with 6,110 units sold in July 2021. The company sold 4,213 units of Suzuki Cultus, 2,131 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 950 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 225 units of Suzuki Swift.

For Toyota Indus, Yaris had the most sales of 2,700, followed by 2,320 sales of Corolla, 1,277 sales of Hilux, and 418 sales of Fortuner.

Honda Atlas sold 1,700 units of Civic and City and 607 units of BR-V.

Hyundai Nishat sold 175 units of Tucson, 163 units of Sonata, and 157 units of Elantra.
