New Car Deals for Black Friday 2021
The end-of-year deals where desperate car dealers do anything to meet quotas and automakers chase every last sale to satisfy stockholders on their annual reports—well, by now, you know that world is gone. We’re seeing used vehicles appreciate in value, regular discounts disappear, huge markups on ordinary vehicles, and inventories at all-time lows. Automakers don’t love the situation—their sales are down because they can’t build enough vehicles. Dealers have less to complain about, having adjusted to lower volume by jacking up prices and making larger profits on take-it-or-leave-it sales. This is a temporary phenomenon we’re witnessing, and even now, there are some—but not many—new-car deals you can find on Black Friday.
Note that some of these deals expire on November 30 while others continue through early January. You’ll need to check your local inventory on a daily basis—and may need to expand your search radius dramatically—to find an eligible car in stock. If an automaker is supporting a new car with lease and purchase incentives, you’ll be able to strike a fairer price than those without any advertised specials. Your bet to an even better deal is to offer a lightly used trade-in to offset the sales tax on your new purchase—and to lock in the inflated resale value of your current vehicle. If you’re in that camp and want or need to jump into something new, now may be the time to act before used vehicle prices begin to fall.
